Reversal of Roles

Just a little observation of mine. Fuddin loves "cooking" up a storm in the mini kitchen while Ayra is the little Brazillian footballer. Hmmm...Spot anything wrong? While I think it is perfectly fine for a man to cook and a woman to play soccer, I am not grooming my children for their future occupations. They are just having a bit of fun. The truth is, Fuddin is just banging the pots and pans, hiding the fork and spoon and shoving the plastic food into my mouth. Ayra is just posing in the new Brazil jersey we bought for her and borrowed Fuddin's Brazil ball to complete the look. See, what you see is not always what you get.

(One of) Fuddin's first steps

I finally managed to get a pretty good shot of Fuddin walking. It does seem that he still has a long way to go but I'm pretty please with his progress. As you can see from the video, he's quite good in ignoring instructions. Despite that, all of us in the family adore him. Here's to many more steps. His journey begins.

Novelties!

We bought a new bed for Ayra. It's shaped like a car and she's been sleeping in it during her afternoon naps. Come November, I plan to let her sleep in it during the nights as well. She will have trouble adjusting at first but I'm confident it will work out somehow.
As for Fuddin, he's busy learning how to walk now. He has taken a few unassisted steps but he's far from stable. He can be quite cautious at times but can be over ambitious too. He also does a lot of climbing. I dare say he's a daredevil! Anyway, let's give him a month. I dare say he'll be walking steadily by then. Anyway, i've yet to shoot a video of him walking so I'm putting up one of his best shots yet, just to showcase what a darling he is.

Racial Harmony Day

Yesterday, the school celebrated Racial Harmony Day. It was fun. There was a carnival-like atmosphere and the students had fun dressing up in the various traditional costumes. It was a much needed deviation from mundane lessons. I managed to take some pictures of and with my ex students from last year. I was their form teacher last year but they're in sec 5 now. That's me in the pink Indian top and jeans. Some people commented that my pigtails made me look more like a Red Indian rather than an Indian. Haha. Will try again next year. Anyway, the students look really good in the traditional costumes. There's also 3 of my current students in some of the pictures. Anyway, here's wishing racial harmony will prevail not only in Singapore but everywhere in the world.

A Typical Evening at Home

I decided to film a typical evening at home. There's Fuddin on his little car. It's quite amazing how fast he is on that thing considering that he can't walk yet. He gets bored easily so he won't stay on the car for long. He prefers to "roam" free, exploring (biting then throwing) everything in sight. The problem is he's still so unstable on his feet that we have to watch him like a hawk, which is TIRING! I do look forward to him walking but I do realize that a whole set of new problems will rear itself once he can walk. Haha! The perils of being a parent.

Artwork

Ayra's been up to quite a lot these past few days. We have been quite enterprising. We're thinking of giving her father an "Arty" present for his birthday. We'll see how it goes. Anyway, here are some of the pieces of artwork.

Bruised!

About two weeks ago, the family went to visit my Aunt who has been ill for a long time. Anyway, I was in my Aunt's room with my mum when I heard a loud scream from Fuddin. Hubby and Dad were outside with the kids. My mum and I rushed out and sure enough, Fuddin had hit the side of his face on the edge of the coffee table.
Anyway, here's the souvenier he brought home.

Sesame Street

The long awaited Sesame Street Concert came and went. Fuddin came along and he enjoyed it. He paid attention the the going-ons on stage and was not restless at all! In fact, he seemed to have enjoyed the concert more than Ayra! This definitely spurs me on to bring him to more of such concerts. I wonder whose coming at the end of the year.

Sandcastle Building

My colleagues and I went to East Coast for some teambuilding activities and ended up feeling hot, sweaty and tired. I had a splitting headache as well but we still managed to build a sandcastle. The larger sandcastle was built by the people who organized the activity. Anyway, I have ordered the tools we used to build the sandcastle and when the kids are older, we'll all go to the beach and build sandcastles!
