I Am Good Company... Not!!!

"I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do."
- Edward Everett Hale -

Yeah, I was right. Yesterday was bad. I was dead tired by the time I got home. I was moody and so very sleepy. I also had marking (and everything else) on my mind. It was fair to say I wasn't very good company. I'm sorry, Roshan. I'm gonna try today.

Fuddin didn't sleep till midnight. Mom suspects its a hole in his tooth. I truly don't know but it's not as easy as just bringing him to the dentist. Those who know Fuddin will know it'll be impossible to check his teeth while he's awake. So what choice do I have? Put him under general anasthetic so that they can check him? What if there's nothing wrong with his teeth? I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.

Busy weekend. Going to the zoo with the kids this weekend. Yusuf and his parents are coming along too. Should be fun. I still need to mark my class tests, get Ayra her party dress, go to the library to return and borrow books, go grocery shopping, attend a barbeque organised by my class and attend a wedding dinner? When do I breathe again? Haha.

Whatever. Life sux but it goes on. I ain't gonna sit down and cry. I have a class to teach, young minds to mould...hell yeah.

Tuesday = Bad Day in School

I have approximately 10 minutes till my terrible Tuesday officially starts. 8 periods and tutorial in the afternoon with 5 Ruby. Two words. NOT FUN. It doesn't matter though coz I always get through the shittiest day somehow. Then I go home to my very loving other half and my very naughty but adorable children.

By the way, I'm starting to count calories again. Starting today. Like for real. I have put on weight and yet again, it ain't funny. I need to lose a minimum of 3 kg (what I gained) but hopefully I can lose 5 kg. It used to be so easy to lose weight. Now, I'm hungry most times. However, I must perservere. I will lose the fats. And yah, I'm not obsessed, just concerned. Hehe.

Preparations for Ayra's birthday are well underway. This is her Coffee Bean "Splish-Splash" cake I've ordered.

It's only 2kgs and since this year, we're inviting both friends and family, I doubt it's gonna be enough but I am not going to pay $300 for a 4 Kg cake. I'ld rather feed my guests good food.
Anyway, we've done up the invitation cards. Nothing fancy. Will put up a photo of it here later. I have also drawn up the guest list, listed down the kinds of food I'm getting and the games we're playing. I've even bought the prizes for the games and now I have to look for cardboard boxes coz Mom is going to make a piniata for her one and only beloved grand daughter. I also need to get Ayra thiswhite, off shoulder princess dress she has already picked out. Sweet. Mom disapproves actually; celebrating her birthday at a bigger scale than usual but I'm really being selfish and trying to make up for her 5th birtday when I screwed up and she ended up not having a party at all! I mean, even I had a mega party when I turned 5! So Ayra, this is all for you. I do hope you will enjoy your birthday celebrations next month.

As for Fuddin, I called up the school yesterday. Apparently, they are short of a teacher so he can't be enrolled now. They'll take him in probably in April but most likely by July. Actually, I don't really mind. It'll give us some time to work on his "social" skills... like taking the bus, actually sitting down in a moving vehicle (haha) and much more. Anyway, he seems to be contented hanging out at home, watching his beloved Hi-5 continuously prance around and going for his weekly swimming trips. He's such a lovable child despite his infamous tantrums.

Okay, I'm almost 2 periods down. Many more to go! I must also not think of food. I wll survive today.

Suicide...Well, it almost was...

It was a nice weekend. Spent it with the family. Still, I ate way too much (still am) and didn't mark anything. Haha. It's okay though. Family comes first right?

And oh, yah... my next door neighbour's teenage daughter tried to kill herself by jumping off her 11th floor bedroom window. Like for real! It was a riot... tons of policemen and the SCDF were swarming around our area. They had even put out the net to catch her if she had decided to take the plunge. Anyway, they managed to coax her in and she was taken away by the police to the station (?). Anyway, it was pretty dramatic.

Yeah, life sux. So much that some people don't want to live anymore. Scary but true.

I just want a happy family, a stable job, good health and to be thin. Haha. I probably won't get everything but somehow, I'm pretty sure I will not attempt suicide though.

No Public Holidays in Feb...Urggh!!!

And so the Chinese New Year break came and went. I really didn’t do much. On the eve of Chinese New Year, An and I went to the Old Woodlands checkpoint area to have dinner. We’re weird like that coz we enjoy going out when there’s hardly anyone around. We hate crowds which explains why we try to stay away from shopping malls on weekends. Other than that, we didn’t really do much. An had to work everyday except for the second day of CNY so we didn’t really managed

to do much.

No worries though. An’s course at the ITE starts on Monday which means that from now till 8 May, he’s working like normal working hours. It’s good because we have the weekends together but it’s also not good coz both of us work such odd hours that we’re able to shop, date, run errands during weekday afternoons. Now we just have to be content being like the other million office workers in Singapore who only venture out of their workplace and homes during weekends.

Well, that’s life. We’ll just have to adapt or not we’ll just be miserable.

I’m also upset that I did not manage to book a chalet to celebrate Ayra’s birthday party at. Then I found out that we parents are also not allowed to invite our child’s classmates to private parties. Duh?! Then who do we invite? It’s not as if 6 year olds have friends elsewhere. It’s really pretty dumb but I don’t have a say in it so I guess that’s that. So what am I to do? I guess just get a good spread, buy a piñata, organize some games, buy a really nice cake and invite her aunts, uncles and cousins around. Yep, same old sort of party. She seems cool with it though thank God.

As for my baby boy, we’re still waiting for the phone call from the school he’s enrolling in. No word just yet. We’re all hoping he’ll get enrolled in school soon so that he can mix around and learn new things but secretly, I know all of us, including my parents are really worried too. Worried that he cannot adjust, that he’ll be miserable or he’ll be deemed hopeless. Still, I know we have to be brave and push him towards the right direction, heck, any direction. I will not allow my son to rot at home forever eventhough it’s the “safe” thing to do.

Anyway, meeting in school today. I’m happy I’m still on top of my marking. I hope this good streak continues. I miss hubby. Haven’t seen him for more than a day. Oh well, we do have the weekend J

Optimism is a Fine Art...

Hmm, time for my weekly update. Sorry, no pics this time but this year I plan to utilize the $400 allowance given by MOE to buy a spanking, brand new camera so... I'll start taking more pics soon and put them all up to spice up my otherwise dead, dead blog.

Brought Ayra to the dentist yesterday. she had a root canal treatment coz it was either that or extraction. She opted for the former so I had to stand there for one and a half hour, holding her hand. Haha. Yeah... no kidding. Still, my girl was brave and didn't cry; not even when the doc injected her gums to numb the area. She was a perfect patient. So I hope from now on, it's the end of her teeth blues coz she's really suffered enough for those baby teeth of hers. Too bad she has to take after me (I don't have very healthy or nice teeth either) but I'm glad Fuddin takes after An who has straight, white and fairly health teeth. I cannot imagine Fuddin ever consenting to someone poking around in his mouth even for a minute, let alone one and a half hours! God is fair.

Anyway, it's a short working week and next week, it's only a 3 day working week. What can I say but woohoo?!!! I've been really good, teaching energetically in class and marking! Therefore, I think I deserve a short break. I wonder when my "positive thinking" streak is gonna wear off and I'll revert to my useless, loafer self.

Going to the zoo on 14th Feb. The school's sponspering us... it's like some Family Day thingy. Free tix so what the heck. I'm not sure how Fuddin is gonna be like but it's worth a try. Dad is coming along too. He claims he hasn't been to the zoo for years so to fulfil my role as a good, filial daughter, I'm bringing him along too. then in the evening, Roshan and I will probably sneak off for a little quiet time (It's V-Day after all). Nothing grand for sure but most prob just dinner followed by a walk at the park. Yeah, we're suckers for romance. Sick huh?

Ok what else? Nothing much really. Life's a real bore at times and when I'm in a real foul mood, it's really a pain. Still, everyday I force the optimist out of me. Only then do I see a semblance of light. Count your blessings people! Do't let the small things get you down. You only live once. Live it well.

And if you can't, just go suck a lollipop or something but don't rain on my parade, yeah?

I should be so lucky in Love

TGIF

It was a triple birthday bash for the Sani family last week. Happy Birthday Syakir, Shauqi and Yusuf! The boys were delighted with their presents. May my beloved nephews contineu to be healthy and happy!

O Level results were released on Monday. I only managed about 65% passes for my 2 sec 5 graduating classes. Congrats to those who did well. Good luck for your future guys! As for those who didn't do too well, don't despair. There's always hope. As long as you gave all your best, there's nothing to be ashamed of.

As for me, the marking is pouring in! Scary as hell! Still, I will continue with my positive outlook (new year's resolution) and get the work done!

As for my beloved Roshan, he's pretty pleased with himself. His company is sending him and 24 other colleagues to a 3 and a 1/2 month course which means he gets to become a full time student again! Haha... he's quite pleased. Study hard eh, An?

My babies are alright as well. No major illnesses as yet (God forbid!) Ayra's really into Art now, spending time on her stencils each day. Dad has also been coaching her in Malay and she conscientiously does her Malay spelling every other day.

As for my pudgy baby boy, he's redeveloped a passion for Hi-5 so we're indulging him (for now). He's also obsessed with books but most of the times he looks at only the first few pages and will proceed to "destroy" the poor book after a few minutes.

Ok I need to go to class. Will write soon(er or later). Hee hee.

And yeah, thank God it's Friday.

A New Year...

Phew! It's been a long time. I've just been too busy. Furthermore, I don't have a computer at home anymore so blogging is quite impossible during the holidays. Anyway, I'm back. I'm not gonna say much about the holidays, just that it wasn't too bad but it could have been better. Here are some pics.

It's been a week since school reopened and I'm still alive. My voice is hoarse but it's still there. My classes are alright. I'm trying to be a bit more organised this year and so far, it's going alright. I'm also trying to be more positive nowadays but it's really bloody hard when you'e dead tired and sleep deprived... still I'll continue trying. It's just that I haven't been sleeping well at all and when I do get to sleep, I'm haunted by weird, disturbing dreams that I can never recall when I get up. It's a real pain.

Anyway, I'll try my best to update as often as I can and to post more pics up. For now, it's back to work.

Look at the stars
They probably shine for you
